End of the Year Message

June 12, 2020

Dear Panther Families,

It has been a very tough time for all of us as our country deals with multiple challenges. I want to thank you, our parents, for your continued support and patience this Spring.  The teachers and staff have been working with your students over the past two and a half months via Zoom and email.  We (staff, students, and parents) have come very far from those first tentative classes in April.  Thanks to your previous financial support of our amazing PTO, we were able to provide over 120 loaner computers to our families.

Last week, (June 1st - 5th) parents dropped off library books, classroom books, and musical instruments.  Teachers gathered student belongings and we gave out them back this week (June 8th -12th.)  Our fifth grade had a Drive Thru Promotion on Wednesday, June 10th and I want to thank all who helped make that possible.  Cars were decorated with signs and balloons... a great time for all!  We are holding all unclaimed student belongings.  If you were unable to pick up your students’ belongings this week, please call the office and we will coordinate a pickup.

This summer our school began an 18-month scheduled renovation. When completed, the school will have all new lights, new flooring, new cabinetry, and an updated heating and air conditioning system throughout. The front office has been moved for the summer to two classrooms just inside door 14.  Door 14 is in the front of the building by the K-2 front playground.  Please follow the signs.

As of this time, June 12th, we do not know specifically what our school year will look like in the fall. The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) has put together an extensive plan call Restart, Redesign, Restart 2020.   This document details the challenges facing our schools and how to meet them. Prince William County Schools will provide a more detailed and district specific plan in the coming weeks.

Please continue to check the school and county web sites as well as the PTO Facebook.  We will pass on any guidance we receive as soon as we can.  If you have specific questions or issues, please do not hesitate to email me at .

Stay Safe and Thank You,

Elliot F. Bolles
